Daniel Santini, University of São Paulo, Brazil

Campaign support message from Daniel: “I have been studying Fare Free Public Transport policies and the results are amazing. Brazil now is the country with more cases identified (114) and I can share that this kind of policy can contribute a lot with reducing social and spacial inequality, as well as increasing access and mobility. People love it. I hope you succeed with the campaign.”

Haringey Migrant Support Centre

Haringey Migrant Support Centre provides advice and casework support for migrants across London, regardless of immigration status. We want to emphasise the importance and value of a fare free London for all, but especially for the communities we work with.

Many of our visitors at HMSC are destitute and unable to access financial support due to their legal status. This is either because they are undocumented or because they have a “no resource to public funds” condition on their visas, which bars them from receiving any economic support from the government. Free Our City

Launched in September 2020, Free Our City is a coalition of community campaigns, trade unions and the youth climate movement, campaigning for free public transport for everyone in Greater Glasgow. We endorse Fare Free London.

National Coordination of Collectives for Free Public Transport, France

Jerome Serodio from the National Coordination of Collectives for Free Public Transport, France, explains that many cities in France already have free public transport, mentions specifically Montpellier, which is a city of over 500,000 people. He says the Collectives for Free Public Transport in France are supporting Fare Free London because we are aligned on climate justice, social justice, and economic purposes.

News from Nowhere Club

News from Nowhere Club is a monthly series of talks which “challenges the commercialisation, isolation and privatisation of modern life.” We spoke at their October meeting. It is based in Leytonstone, north-east London.

“Why we support Fare Free London:

Anything that reduces the use of cars is welcome. Pollution kills. Free transport could alleviate stress from poorer people and open up new places, enriching people’s lives.

We hold our meetings near buses, underground and overground, and hope that people come by public transport.”
